SABUDANA KHICHDI

6 BEST NAVRATRI VRAT RECEIPES!!

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 cup Sabudana
  • 1 carrot (chopped)
  • ½ cup peanut (roasted)
  • 1 potato (boiled)
  • 1 tomato (chopped)
  • ¼ cup grated coconut
  • 1 green chili (chopped)
  • Rock salt
  • Black pepper

 

METHOD:

  • Soak 1 cup Sabudana in water overnight.

TIP: water should be just enough to cover the Sabudana.

  • Firstly, crush roasted peanuts.
  • Add mix crushed peanuts, rock salt, black pepper in soaked Sabudana.

TIP: If we mix all the ingredients in soaked Sabudana. Then the Sabudana stickiness will reduce.

  • Mix gently with soft hands.
  • Then in a pan, add 1 tsp peanut oil.
  • Add ½ tsp cumin seed into the oil.
  • Then add carrot, tomato, green chili, boiled potato, and grated coconut.
  • Mix it well.
  • Add the mixture of soaked Sabudana and peanut, mix gently.
  • At that time, reduce the heat and cover with a lid.
  • And let it cook for 2 minutes.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves and serve it.

SABUDANA THALIPEETH

INGREDIENTS:

  • ½ cup Sabudana
  • ½ cup Singhara flour
  • 1 potato (boiled)
  • 1 tsp ginger-chili paste
  • ½ cup peanut (roasted)
  • 2 tbsp coriander leaves (chopped)
  • Black pepper
  • Rock salt

 

METHOD:

  • Soak ½ cup Sabudana in water overnight.

Let’s make a dough!!

  • Take a deep bowl.
  • Add soaked Sabudana, Singhara flour, boiled potato, ginger-chili paste, roasted and roughly crushed peanut, chopped coriander leaves, cumin seed, black pepper, and rock salt.
  • Mix all the ingredients and make a dough.

Let’s make a Thalipeeth!!

  • Then, heat a non-stick pan. Add ½ tsp ghee.
  • Take a medium size dough and make a small ball.
  • Gently press them from all the sides, and make it flat.
  • Keep sealing the edges as you press if it breaks.

TIP: applying too much pressure while flattening the Thalipeeth will easily break it.

  • Make a small hole in the center.
  • Place the Thalipeeth in the pan very carefully!!
  • Let it turn brown before you flip. Else your Thalipeeth will break.
  • In the center, add ½ tsp ghee.
  • Cook until it becomes golden brown from both the side.
  • Serve hot with chutney.

SAMAK AND SABUDANA DOSA

INGREDIENTS:

  • ½ cup Samak rice
  • ½ cup Sabudana
  • 1 cup curd (sour)
  • Rock salt

METHOD:

  • Grind Samak rice and Sabudana and make flour.

TIP: If Sabudana flour is course, Then, it will be fine because it gives crispness in your dosa.

  • Mix both flours and add sour curd.
  • Mix gently and keep it aside for 15-20 minutes.
  • After it adds rock salt and water required.
  • Mix everything to make a semi-thin batter.
  • Spread batter on the heated pan.
  • Cook from both sides until it turns into golden brown.
  • Serve it with chutney.

STUFFED PATTICE

INGREDIENTS:

(dough)

  • 2 ½ raw banana
  • 1 carrot (grated)
  • ½ beetroot (grated)
  • ¼ cup Singhara flour
  • 2 green chili (chopped)
  • Coriander leaves (chopped)
  • Mint leaves (chopped)
  • Black pepper
  • Rock salt

(stuffing)

  • 2 tsp grated coconut
  • 1/2 cup peanut (roasted)
  • 2 tbsp raisins
  • 2 tbsp cashew nut (roasted & crushed)

 

METHOD:

  • In boiling water, add raw banana and boil around 10 minutes.
  • Let them cool down.
  • Grate boiled raw banana and keep it aside.

Let’s make a dough!!

  • In a bowl, add grated raw banana, carrot, beetroot, Singhara flour, green chili, coriander leaves, mint leaves black pepper, rock salt.
  • knead a dough.

Let’s make a special stuffing!!

  • In a bowl, add the ingredients together.
  • Mix it well and keep aside.

Let’s make a pattice:

  • Take a medium size dough and make a small ball.
  • Flatten the ball.
  • fill 1 tsp stuffing in the center.
  • Bring the edges towards the center and gently seal the edges.

TIP: Do not overstuff the stuffing as it will be difficult to seal the pattice.

  • Heat a non-stick pan and add 1 tsp ghee.
  • Put pattice into the pan.
  • Turn them occasionally.
  • Shallow fry until turns golden brown from both the sides.
  • Serve pattice with chutney.

SAGA IDLI

INGREDIENTS:

  • ½ cup Samak rice
  • ½ cup rajgira
  • 1 cup curd (sour)
  • Rock salt
  • Black pepper

METHOD:

  • Grind Samak rice and rajgira to make flour.
  • In a bowl, add flour and sour curd.
  • Mix gently and keep aside for 15 minutes.

TIP: you can also add a pinch of baking powder in the place of sour curd.

  • After that add water according to you, rock salt, black pepper.
  • Mix it well.
  • Transfer the batter into greased idli trays.
  • Place the tray in the steamer with hot water.
  • Cook for 810 minutes.
  • Once cool, then take the idlis out of the tray.
  • Serve it with chutney.
